Explore courses

This specialist range of short courses from the University of Greenwich at Medway is designed to allow students to extend the specialist knowledge they have gained as part of their sixth form studies. They will have the opportunity to experience a subject they may wish to study at university or simply further investigate an interest or hobby they may have.

Business

Entrepreneurs in Business

This workshop allows students to broaden their business knowledge and learn how to develop a project. They will investigate the elements that will make the business a success using key business theories.

Engineering

Vehicle Aerodynamics

An opportunity for students to develop their own model car to investigate optimum design configurations and how they impact on fuel consumption and operating speed. Test your model in the wind tunnel to understand drag.

Heat Recovery

Students will design a system to recover lost energy in a computer laboratory. They will calculate the lost heat in a given room and develop a system using the principles of thermodynamics to effectively recover the lost energy/heat.

Aerodynamics

This workshop enables students to extend their physics knowledge and design a remote-controlled drone to carry a camera. Specific focus is needed for the airframe size, shape and orientation of the wings to accommodate the weight of the camera.

Science

Electrophoresis

Students will learn more about the polymerase chain reaction process by extracting their own DNA and using PCR to confirm its presence. They will have the opportunity to prepare agarose gel for the electrophoresis practical session.
