Using quizzes, teamwork and fun games, this workshop explores what is involved in costing a building project and encourages students to think about the relationship between design and environment.
This workshop introduces students to site analysis in a fun and inventive way. Each student is assigned an imaginary planet with different characteristics from the rest. They have to use the facts about their planet to come up with detailed lists of materials needed to build homes suited to their environment.
Getting participants to think about function as well as form, each student in this workshop will design a stadium for their favourite sport.
This workshop introduces students to working with salvaged and reclaimed materials. Students are given a large selection of scrap materials to choose from. They must then use their creativity to build a model of a building.
Showing students that architects design more than buildings, this workshop introduces the basic principles of bridge building and then gets the class to build their own models. Prizes are given for the bridge with the best aesthetics, strength, length and highest arch.
In this workshop, students have fun using different shapes to create building models. Student ambassadors take a box of random shapes into the class and each student chooses one. They then take their shape and must adapt it into a small building design using all their creativity.
