Greenwich accommodation

Cutty Sark Hall

Cutty Sark Hall is a hall of residence offering 231 single study/bedrooms, all with en-suite shower/toilet facilities in shared, self-catering flats. Every room has its own mini-fridge and free direct access to the Internet.

The hall forms part of a development in the heart of Greenwich above the Dockland Light Railway (DLR) station and among the shops that are only a few minutes' walk from the Greenwich Campus. Supermarkets are nearby in New Cross and Lewisham and on the Greenwich Peninsula.

Travel

Although there is no car parking at Cutty Sark Hall, public transport links locally and into the capital are excellent – by bus, train and DLR (which links to the Tube). Trains to London Bridge and Charing Cross are regular and take about 25 minutes. A night bus also connects Greenwich and the West End every night of the week.

Students are able to use the university inter-campus bus service. This connects Avery Hill, Greenwich and Medway Campus and is the easiest way to travel between each campus during normal university hours.

Devonport House

Across from the university’s Greenwich Campus, Devonport House is a bespoke, modern conversion of an historic building. It offers 125 rooms, all single study/bedrooms with en-suite shower/toilet facilities, in shared, self-catering flats.  All rooms have their own mini-fridge and free access to the Internet.

The hall differs from other university residences in being reserved for postgraduate students and those who are 25 years old or more. The hall is adjacent to Greenwich Park and is within easy walking distance of the university’s teaching buildings and library. Local shops are plentiful and supermarkets are nearby in New Cross and Lewisham and on the Greenwich Peninsula.

Travel

Although there is no car parking at Devonport House, there are excellent public transport links locally and into the capital. Trains to London Bridge and Charing Cross are regular and take about 25 minutes. A number of bus routes run beside the hall and a night bus connects Greenwich and the West End every night of the week.

Students are able to use the university inter-campus bus service. This connects Avery Hill, Greenwich and Medway Campus and is the easiest way to travel between each campus during normal university hours.

The McMillan Student Village

McMillan Student Village offers a range of different types of accommodation – from single student bedrooms (all with en-suite toilet/shower facilities) in shared, self-catering flats to self-contained studio apartments for one or two individuals, each with its own kitchenette. Each bedroom or studio flat has its own mini-fridge and access to the Internet (for which an annual fee, currently £80, is payable).

The residence is only a 10 to 15 minute walk (five minute bus journey) from Greenwich. Deptford High Street and shops are nearby and the Surrey Quays shopping centre and supermarket are not far away. In addition to students from the University of Greenwich, the site accommodates students from a number of local colleges. There is 24hour on-site security and a fully staffed office which is open every week day.

Travel

Although there is no car parking available at the McMillan Student Village, there are excellent public transport links locally and into the capital. Regular trains run to London
Bridge and Charing Cross from Deptford station and can take as little as 10 minutes. A night bus also runs to and from the West End every night of the week.
