Combined honours students study two subjects together in an “and” or “with” combination. The name of your programme will be in the form "x and y" (e.g. BA Hons Drama and Education) for joint honours or "x with y" (e.g. BSc Hons Life Science with Multimedia) for major/minor combinations. The two subjects in a combined degree may come from two different Schools in the university, or may be within the same School. Your first-named subject is your “home” School and department. If you are unsure whether you are studying a combined honours programme check the combined honours programmes of the online prospectus. If the programme you are studying does not appear in the combined honours list then you should go to your home School's ‘Term Start Dates’ page, to find further details and contact information for queries.
Your first meeting at university and most of your activities for the first week will be with your first-named subject in your home School/department. You can find details of the date, time and location of your first meeting under ‘Term Start Dates’ for your home School and first-named programme. Your personal tutor will be from your first-named programme and it is important that you make sure you know who this person is.
During the first week of term, combined honours students are expected to meet with staff from both subjects they are studying and there will be a timetabled session with academic staff from your second subject. You will be given details of this session when you first arrive at university and meet your first-subject programme team. All joint combined honours students are required to attend this second-subject session. This could be on a different campus, dependent on the School location of your second subject. Your personal tutor or your home School office will be able to advise you about this.
You can find further information about the university’s Schools and campuses on the university website.
