The University of Greenwich welcomes students from Kuwait studying foundation, undergraduate (Bachelor) degree, and postgraduate (Master’s) degree programmes. The university is one of the top recruiters of Kuwaiti students in the UK, HESA 2010.

To join our programmes you will need to meet both academic and English language entry requirements before you start the programme. You need not wait until you satisfy all the entry requirements before you apply to study with us.

The University of Greenwich is on the list of UK universities approved by the Minister of Education in Kuwait.

Entry requirements

Foundation and undergraduate degrees

For entry to the International Foundation Programme, in either September or January, you will need to have:

  • An IELTS of 4.5 with a minimum of 4.0 in each component or equivalent and
  • To have completed 12 years of education and been awarded the Shahadat-al-thanawia-al-a’ama

For entry to our four year extended degree programmes in engineering, you will need:

  • An IELTS of 6.0 with a minimum of 5.5 in each component or equivalent and
  • To have completed 12 years of education and been awarded the Shahadat-al-thanawia-al-a’ama

For entry to year 1 of three year Bachelor degree programmes, you will need to pass the International Foundation Programme. If you have an IELTS of 6.0 with a minimum of 5.5 in each component or equivalent and very good marks in your Shahadat-al-thanawia-al-a’ama, you may be considered for Year 1 of a degree.

You may also apply for Year 1 if you have completed the first year of a relevant degree or you have an International Baccalaureat or A levels.

Advanced standing to Year 2 is possible if you have completed two years of a relevant degree from the University of Kuwait or to year three of some degrees if you have completed three years of a degree in Kuwait. You will need an IELTS of 6.0 with a minimum of 5.5 in each component or equivalent.

Master’s degrees

For entry to our Master’s programmes, you will need to have:

  • An IELTS of 6.0 with a minimum of 5.5 in each component or equivalent or
  • TOEFL of 93 (with a minimum R22, L21, S23, W21) and to have a four year degree from the University of Kuwait or a recognised university

An International Foundation Programmes (Advanced) is available to graduates who have an IELTS of 4.5 with a minimum of 4.0 in each component or equivalent and who wish to prepare themselves for postgraduate study.

Certain programmes have special requirements. For example, some MBA programmes require work experience after graduation at an appropriate level; and those for architecture need to submit a portfolio of their work.

Summer pre-sessional English language courses and International Foundation Programmes are available.
