The University of Greenwich welcomes students from Iran studying foundation, undergraduate (Bachelor) degree, and postgraduate (Master’s) degree programmes.

To join our programmes you will need to meet both academic and English language entry requirements before you start the programme. You need not wait until you satisfy all the entry requirements before you apply to study with us.

Entry requirements

Foundation and undergraduate degrees

For entry to the International Foundation Programme, in either September or January, you will need to have:

  • An IELTS of 4.5 with a minimum of 4.0 in each component or equivalent and
  • To have completed 12 years of education and been awarded the (three year) High School Diploma.

For entry to our four year extended degree programmes in Engineering, you will need to have:

  • An IELTS of 6.0 with a minimum of 5.5 in each component or equivalent and
  • To have completed 12 years of education and been awarded the (three year) High School Diploma

For entry to Year 1 of three year Bachelor degree programmes, you will need to pass the International Foundation Programme. If you have an IELTS of 6.0 with a minimum of 5.5 in each component or equivalent and a four year High School Diploma, with a minimum score of 14, you may be considered for Year 1 of a degree.

You may also apply for Year 1 if you have completed the first year of a relevant degree or you have an International Baccalaureat or A levels.

Advanced standing to Year 2 is possible if you have completed two years of a relevant degree in Iran or to Year 3 of some degrees if you have completed three years of a relevant degree in Iran. You will need an IELTS of 6.0 with a minimum of 5.5 in each component or equivalent.

Master’s degrees

For entry to our Master’s programmes, you will need to have:

  • An IELTS of 6.0 with a minimum of 5.5 in each component or equivalent or
  • TOEFL of 93 (with a minimum R22, L21, S23, W21) and to have a four year degree (License or Karshenasi) from a recognised university

An International Foundation Programme (Advanced) is available to graduates who have an IELTS of 4.5 with a minimum of 4.0 in each component or equivalent and who wish to prepare themselves for postgraduate study.

Certain programmes have special requirements. For example, some MBA programmes require work experience after graduation at an appropriate level; and those for architecture need to submit a portfolio of their work.
