Overview

The University of Greenwich welcomes students from Brazil studying foundation, undergraduate (bachelor's) degree, and postgraduate (Master’s) degree programmes.

The University has a large number of programmes Brazilians will find of interest covering Business, Banking, Finance, Computing, New Media, Architecture, Construction, Maritime, Humanities and Social Sciences, Law, Design, Politics, Economics, Science, Engineering and Film and TV.

London and the South East of England region is an exciting area in which to live; it is full of history and tradition but also one of the world's most exciting and culturally rich cities. There are an estimated 200,000 Brazilians in the UK and most live in London.

To join our programmes you will need to meet both academic and English language entry requirements before you start the programme. You need not wait until you satisfy all the entry requirements before you apply to study with us.

Entry requirements

Entry requirements

 

Undergraduate degrees

The University will consider you for direct year 1 entry if you have passed, or expect to pass the Certificado de Ensino Medio minimum grade 8.

If you have passed, or expect to pass the Certificado de Ensino Medio grade 6 or higher we will consider you for our Foundation programme which starts in September or January.   The Foundation programme allows you to progress onto any of our Humanities, Social Sciences, Computing or Business programmes.  If you are interested in Engineering, we can offer you a 4 year degree programme. 

Advanced standing to year 2 is possible if you have completed two years of a relevant degree in Brazil or to year three of some Greenwich degrees.

Postgraduate degrees

For entry to our Master's degrees you will need to have Bacharel or Licenciado degree (minimum four years) from Brazil minimum grade 7 to be considered and 8 for some programmes.

Certain programmes have special requirements. For example, applicants for some MBA programmes must have two to three years' full time management work experience after graduation at an appropriate level; and those for architecture need to submit a portfolio of their work.

Scholarships

Science without Borders

 

Undergraduate: In January 2013 the first undergraduate Brazilian Science without Borders / Ciencia sem Fronteiras joined the University of Greenwich for their 12 month placements at the University of Greenwich. This consists of 9 months of study + 3 months of work placement / project. 

PhD's: Greenwich welcomes interest from any students wishing to study a full PhD with us through Science Without Borders (SWB).  We have extensive PhD opportunities covering: Science, Engineering, Computing, Mathematical Sciences, Architecture, Construction, Performing Arts, Film, Psychology and Health.  More detail about our specialisms is found on the SWB official pages.  To apply for a PhD, please view our Research Pages.  Funding must be applied for separately through SWB.

 

Subject areas for Undergraduate  

The University of Greenwich participated in the Science without Borders programme in the following subject areas at undergraduate level in 2015/16.

Science - intakes in September and January for 12 months combined UK study (9 months) and placement / project (3 months): BSc Pharmaceutical Science, BSc Biomedical Science, BSc Sports Science, BSc Biological Science, BCs Chemistry, BSc Geography, BSc Environmental Science.

Engineering – intake in September only for 12 months combined UK study (9 months) and placement (3 months): BEng Civil Engineering, BSc Civil Engineering, BEng Mechanical Engineering, BEng Mechanical Engineering Technology, BEng Electrical and Electronic Engineering, BEng Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technology.

Computing and Mathematical Sciences - intake in September only for 12 months combined UK study (9 months) and placement (3 months) {Including but not limited to the following programmes}: BEng Software Engineering, BSc Computer Science, BSc Computing with Digital Media,  BSc Business Computing, BSc Computer Security and Forensics, BSc Computer Systems and Networking, BSc Digital Media Technologies, BSc Games Design and Development, BSc Creative Digital Media, BSc Web Technologies, BSc Digital Television and Interactive Media, BSc Film and Television Production, BSc Financial Mathematics, BSc Mathematics and Computing.

 

Campuses

Engineering and Science students will be situated at our Medway Campus in Kent. This campus is home to our School of Science and School of Engineering. This splendid Edwardian redbrick and ivy-clad campus – dating from 1903 – has benefited from £50 million in investment since 1996. Extensive new laboratories and research facilities have been opened at Medway and the university has linked with other educational establishments to develop the campus as a major higher education centre in the Medway region, known collectively as the Universities at Medway.

All other students will be situated in Greenwich, London.  Our Greenwich Campus is centred on 3 baroque buildings built at the end of the 17th century and has been described as "More breathtaking that the Versailles of Louis IV".  Greenwich is a vibrant area of London with markets, pubs, clubs and restaurants and boasts the Greenwich Meridian line, which divides the eastern and western hemispheres. 

 

Accommodation

All new Science without Borders students can live in university housing at the Medway Campus or Avery Hill Campus when accepted, depending on which campus your programme is.

 

Student life

The campuses include a mix of social and leisure facilities, including a restaurants, sports facilities, bars and shops.
