Outgoing Staff University of Greenwich

Erasmus+ Staff Mobility

We encourage our staff to visit partner institutions and participate in teaching and training mobility. Returning staff frequently comment that Erasmus has been a valuable experience and provided them with opportunities to network across Europe, gain new insights into teaching and learning, and to keep abreast of developments in their subject.

Academic and non-academic staff members from all grades who are employed by the University of Greenwich can apply to go on an exchange within the European Union, funded by the European Commission's Erasmus+ programme.  For academic staff this can include teaching at a partner university (the University must have a valid Inter-institutional Agreement in place. Please see here for a current list of agreements).  For non-academic and professional services staff this can include job shadowing, taking part in a University's international week or training events to share best practice.  (*Note: Academic staff may also undertake a Training exchange if they plan to take part in a course, job shadow, etc. as opposed to teaching). It also serves as an opportunity to build your professional network and establish important links to raise the profile of the University.

Application Process 2016-2017

The application process for staff interested in Erasmus+ staff mobility for the 2016-2017 year is now complete. However, the university will run an additional application cycle in January 2017 with an application deadline of 30 January 2017. Applications will be sent out to all staff in early January 2016. Interested staff who would like to find out more information on how to apply for 2016-2017 should email erasmus@greenwich.ac.uk to request further information.  All applicants will need their line manager's approval and applications received after the deadline will not be accepted. Selected staff in the second round of applications must undertake their mobility between February 2016 and September 2017.

Staff Testimonials

Dr Mary-Paz Arrieta-Paredes, Lecturer in International Business, went on Erasmus+ staff exchange in 2015 to the University of Alicante in Spain and describes the benefits below:

"In an era when the UK and Europe are experiencing the challenges of an internationally competitive Higher Education market, having the opportunity to understand how other European HEI manage their students' learning experience, and particularly their career profiles, is of paramount importance for any British University. In this Erasmus + experience at the University of Alicante, I have had a 360 degree view of an organization which have a similar educational offer and student intake as the University of Greenwich. In contrast with other academics' usual teaching choice, I preferred to employ my visit to overview Alicante University's student placements and employability strategies from a managerial standpoint. I will be building on this field-work to feed in my main research project, which relates to SMEs, specifically to understand how student placements can add value to SMEs."
