Personal Learning Spaces Research Group
This cluster aims to explore personal learning spaces from conceptual and experiential perspectives. Personal learning spaces can capture formal and informal learning: as a simple e-portfolio that records learning and progression; or as a sophisticated environment in which users continually develop life-long and life–wide attributes by creating meaningful assets. Personal learning spaces scaffold approaches that enablelearners to collect, select, reflect, interpret, synthesise, evidence, and present their learning to the audiences they choose. They support the shift in focus from teacher-led teaching to student-led learning. Specific areas highlighted by this group for study include how personal learning spaces support and authenticate the development of employability and professional identity, as well as exploring the responses of diverse student groups to using different tools.
