Employer Engagement Research Group

The aim of this cluster is to  research the policy agenda and the discourses underpinning the interaction of employers, technology and higher education.  The role of Higher Education within a shifting landscape of virtual and globalised employers, training and education needs, skills requirements and technology driven working patterns is a complex and arguably contentious one.  Members in this  cluster will explore a number of different areas within this contested space including:

  • What is employer engagement within the context of a digital workplace?
  • The role of employers and industry in partnering and driving e-learning processes and practices,
  • What does it mean to work in an e-workforce?
  • How can technology support and develop experiential learning and reflective practice?
  • How do changing e-work patterns and practices impact on Higher Education?
  • How does the university engage the virtual employer?
  • E-work based learning or work based e-learning?
  • Does technology support the process of employer engagement?
