Overview

SHREWD stands for Strategic Health Resilience Early Warning Dashboard, and the project has been developing an on-line digital version of an existing health service resilience early warning system, and extending the range and scope of activities within that system to provide rapid and comprehensive information to decision makers and service managers. There are a number of factors that can impact the resilience or individual health service facilities and the network of such services, causing inefficiencies, breakdowns and potentially complete shutdown. In order to manage the impact of these factors and ensure these services are available 24/7, service managers and other decision makers require regularly updated information on the status of all other services which impact their service, so that they can make appropriate provision. The development of an on-line electronic early warning dashboard, extending the existing paper and phone based system, enhances existing decision making and potentially improves the overall efficiency and resilience of the health system within a specified region.
