Travelling in and out of the UK University of Greenwich

During your studies it may be necessary to travel in and out of the UK, or you may plan a trip abroad during the vacation periods.  It is very important that you are aware of any implications your travel could have on your studies and or your immigration status.

If you are planning a trip outside the UK during the official vacation period, you should usually not face any complication.  However, make sure to contact ISAS for advice before you make plans to travel if any of the following applies:

  • You want to travel outside of the UK during the term time
  • When you re-enter the UK there will only be a short amount of time left on your visa
  • You want to leave and then re-enter the UK after your studies have officially ended

You should always remember that each time you re-enter the UK, border officials may ask you questions regarding your reasons for entry to the UK.  They have the ability to keep you waiting at the port of entry whilst they check your reason to enter and in some rare cases they could even to deny you entry to the UK if they are not satisfied with your reason for entry to the UK.

This is why it is important to contact ISAS if you are travelling back into the UK and one of the above three points applies to you.
