  • The application process

The application process

If you have declared a disability, specific learning difficulty, mental health or long term medical condition on your UCAS or university application form, this will not prejudice your application. All applications are considered on academic grounds. Where applicants meet entrance requirements the university is committed to make reasonable adjustments to enable them to participate, with due to regard to resources available, practicality, the interests of other students, health and safety considerations, and the need to meet competence standards .

Competence standards

If you are offered and accept a place you will be expected to meet the competence standards for your chosen course, irrespective of a disability, although you are entitled to ask the university to consider how adjustments can be made to the assessment of those standards.  Competence standards vary from course to course; further information can be sought from prospectuses, the Course Enquiries Unit and from academic staff at university Open Days.

Interviews and selection tests

If you are required to attend an interview or selection tests as part of the selection process and want to request special arrangements or adjustments you should liaise with the individual named in the interview offer letter.
