Campus and inter-campus accessibility

The University of Greenwich is located on three campuses, with designated parking spaces for Blue Badge holders on each. Parking permits for Blue Badge holders are available from Facilities Management. Below is a summary of accessibility on each site. For more detailed information on accessibility for each campus and the courses that operate there, visit the Disabled Go website.

Avery Hill campus

This campus has two sites, separated by a park. Most of the Southwood Site is accessible to wheelchair users and there is accessible student accommodation and facilities [i.e. shop, launderette, café and bar]. The ground floor areas of the Mansion site are mostly accessible to wheelchair users including the main lecture theatre, which has an induction loop. There is level access to Sparrow Farms Leisure Centre, which has a gym, squash courts and a bar.

Medway campus

Wheelchair access to most buildings on this site is good; there are lifts to upper floors and accessible toilets on most floors. There is also a wheelchair accessible sports hall and fitness gym.

Greenwich campus

This campus has a number of 18th Century listed buildings. Whilst most buildings do have level access and lift facilities, some doors are heavy and routes long for wheelchair users. There are a lack of clear routes around the site for visually impaired students and good orientation is necessary. Accessible toilets are available in all teaching buildings. There are good transport links to the Greenwich campus, but there is no student parking, other than for Blue Badge holders.

Moving between campuses

There is good inter-site transport (the university bus service) between the three main campuses but it is not accessible to wheelchair users.

For wheelchair users, Computer Cabs on 020 8313 9797 and Fairway and Metro cabs have specially adapted doors and ramps to enable them to accommodate wheelchairs. Greater London Hire Limited (GLH) will also work with funders to provide accessible transport. If you have extra travel costs as a result of a disability you can apply to your funding authority (usually Student Finance England) for assistance in meeting these.
