Public Transport to Hamilton House


Greenwich has excellent bus services. The routes listed below stop close-by to Hamilton House on Romney Road:

  • 129: North Greenwich - Greenwich
  • 177: Thamesmead - Peckham
  • 180: Belvedere - Lewisham
  • 188: North Greenwich – Russell Square
  • 286: Sidcup - Greenwich
  • 386: Blackheath – Woolwich Arsenal

National Rail

Southeastern provides direct services from the Central London stations of Cannon Street and London Bridge all to Maze Hill Station (Zone 3) a short walk from Hamilton House. From the east trains operate from Dartford. To get to Hamilton House leave the station by the ticket office and walk up towards Maze Hill. Turn left into Maze Hill and then immediately right on to Park Vista. After approximately 150 metres Hamilton House is on your right. There are also direct services from Medway towns to Lewisham linked to central Greenwich by the DLR.

Docklands Light Railway (DLR)

Cutty Sark DLR station is located in the heart of Greenwich town centre a 10 minute walk from Hamilton House. Direct trains run from Bank, Canary Wharf, Lewisham and Stratford and easy connections are available from Tower Gateway, Beckton and London City Airport. Please refer to the Greenwich Campus Plan.

London Underground (Tube)

For connections from the Tube network, the quickest route is to alight at Canary Wharf station on the Jubilee Line and get a DLR Lewisham bound train to Cutty Sark station. More info from TfL.

River services

Thames Clippers provides a regular boat service from Westminster to Greenwich Pier (adjacent to the main campus a 5 minute walk to Hamilton House). The service stops at various locations on route and takes 35 minutes in total. Probably the fastest way to travel from Central London.

Cycling and Walking to Hamilton House


Information about cycle routes is available from TfL. Cycle parking is provided at the rear of Hamilton House. We recommend you use a good quality bike lock. Bicycles at left at your risk. A shower is provided in Hamilton House in the male toilet area only. There is a bicycle repair kit and pump on the main campus at the East Gate Security Lodge.

Hamilton House is opposite Greenwich Park. There are some very pleasant walks and fantastic views in Greenwich Park.

The Greenwich foot tunnel provides access on-foot between Greenwich and the Isle of Dogs north of the river. provides information on walking routes in London.

From the M25 South:

Exit at J2 for A2 towards London. Head for Blackwall Tunnel onto the A102. Exit A102 via slip road for A206 and follow sign-posts for Greenwich. Continue into Greenwich along this road for approximately one mile and shortly after the BP garage turn right at the traffic lights into Park Row. There is a public car park immediately on the right. There is no parking at Hamilton House.

For Hamilton House itself turn left at the lights into Park Row and then follow the road to the left into Park Vista. Hamilton House is on the left hand side however see notes below on parking.

From M25 North:

Exit at J27 for M11 towards London follow signs for Blackwall Tunnel. After tunnel exit the A102 onto the A206 and follow directions for Greenwich above. 

Car Parking

There is no parking available at Hamilton House or on the public road outside. There is a public car park close-by in Park Row (see above). Blue Badge holders attending the site are advised to contact the university in advance to make arrangements for parking.
