Docklands Light Railway (DLR)

The DLR Cutty Sark Station is just a 10 minute walk from Hamilton House. Direct services run from Bank, Canary Wharf, Lewisham and Stratford and easy connections are available from Tower Gateway, Beckton and London City Airport. When exiting Cutty Sark turn left, walking past the bank and shops, then cross the road onto College Approach. Walk down and enter at West Gate and work straight though the Old Royal Naval College, walking past the university buildings, the Painted Hall and the Chapel. Exit out of East Gate onto Park Vista and turn right onto Park Row. Cross the main road and continue walking toward Greenwich Park. Follow the road round to Park Vista, walking past Greenwich Maritime Museum. If you continue walking, Hamilton House is on the left hand side.

London Underground (Tube)

The London Underground tube network is not close enough to walk from and will require transfer onto other public transport. The best option is to get off at Canary Wharf (Jubilee Line) and get a DLR Lewisham bound train to Cutty Sark. Alternatively you could get off at North Greenwich (Jubilee Line) and take a 188 bus to Greenwich.

River services

Thames Clippers provide a regular boat service to Greenwich Pier from central London picking up at Savoy Pier, Blackfriars, Bankside, London Bridge, City, St Katherine's, Canary Wharf, Greenland and Masthouse Terrace. The journey takes 35 minutes in total and is probably the fastest way to travel from central London.

Further information

For fare and ticket information go to our using public transport page. You can also use Traveline and Transport for London to plan your journey to campus.

Cycling

Cycle parking is provided at the rear of Hamilton House. Cyclist need to bring their own lock pads. A shower is provided in Hamilton House; however this is available in the male toilet area only.

Read the London Cycling Campaign advice on bicycle security.

Walking to Hamilton House

The Greenwich foot tunnel provides access on-foot between Greenwich and the Isle of Dogs north of the river. There are also some very pleasant walks through Greenwich Park from south of Hamilton House. Hamilton House is opposite Greenwich Park.

Road directions

Greenwich often suffers from traffic congestion and public car parks can get very busy, it is however well served by public transport. If you do decide to drive, please use the directions below.

From the M25 take the A2 Junction 2 towards London. The distance is then approximately 15 miles. Continue onto the A102 (if travelling from East London on the A12 join the A102 via the Southbound Blackwall Tunnel). Exit the A102 via the slip road for the A206 and follow the signposts for Greenwich. Continue into Greenwich along this road for approximately one mile and shortly after the BP garage turn left at the traffic lights into Park Row, following the road around towards the left onto Park Vista. Hamilton House is on the left hand side.

Car parking

There is no parking at Hamilton House but there is a public car park on Park Row as well as other car parks elsewhere in the town centre. Greenwich Council provides more information on parking.
