Public Transport to Greenwich
The following bus routes stop in Greenwich town centre just outside the campus:
- 129 - North Greenwich - Greenwich
- 177 - Thamesmead - Peckham
- 180 - Belvedere - Lewisham
- 188 - North Greenwich - Russell Square
- 199 - Canada Water - Catford
- 286 - Sidcup - Greenwich (via Avery Hill Campus)

The train operator Southeastern provides services into Greenwich. From Central London trains operate to Greenwich from Cannon Street and London Bridge normally terminating at Dartford in the east. There are also direct services from the Medway towns to Lewisham linked to Greenwich by the DLR. For all timetable information refer to National Rail Enquiries.
There are two stations within easy walking distance of the campus:
- Greenwich Station (Travel Zone 2 or 3) west of the campus on Greenwich High Road 9 minutes walk to the West Gate entrance.
- Maze Hill Station (Zone 3) east of the campus in Tom Smith Close 8 minutes walk to the East Gate entrance.

Docklands Light Railway (DLR)
The nearest station is Cutty Sark a two minute walk to the campus West Gate entrance. Direct services run from Bank, Canary Wharf, Lewisham and Stratford and easy connections are available from Tower Gateway, Beckton and London City Airport. See Campus Map for location.
London Underground (Tube)
For connections from the Tube alight at Canary Wharf station on the Jubilee Line and get a DLR Lewisham bound train to Cutty Sark station. More info from TfL.
Thames Clippers operates a regular boat service from Westminster to Greenwich Pier (adjacent to the Old Royal Naval College) stopping at various locations on route. The journey takes 35 minutes in total and is possibly the fastest way to travel from Central London.

Cycling and Walking to Greenwich
If you plan to cycle to the campus TfL provides information on the best cycle routes. The ride from Avery Hill Campus takes around 30 minutes using the suggested route on Google maps. Cycling is not permitted on the campus except along the designated cycle path adjacent to the river.
You can park your bicycle adjacent to Park Row in the Queen Anne car park. We recommend you invest in a good quality lock. There are showers in QA202 on the second floor of the Queen Anne building. A bicycle repair kit and pump is provided at the East Gate Security Lodge.
The nearest TfL cycle hire location is in Island Gardens just north of the river (see note on walking below).
The London Cycling Campaign give useful guidance about safety on the road, cycle maintenance and security.
The campus is within easy walking distance of our Halls of residence at Devonport House (1 minute), Cutty Sark Halls (1 minute), Daniel Defoe Hall (11 minutes) and Rachel McMillan Hall in Deptford (14 minutes). The Greenwich Foot Tunnel links Greenwich to the Isle of Dogs north of the river. If you have time there are also some very pleasant walks and fantastic views in Greenwich Park just south of the campus.

Driving to Greenwich

From M25 North:
Exit at J27 for M11 towards London follow signs for A12 Blackwall Tunnel. After tunnel exit the A102 onto the A206 and follow sign-posts for Greenwich. Continue along this road for approximately one mile. Shortly after the BP garage turn right at the traffic lights into Park Row. There is a public car park immediately on the right. The campus is on the left but see the notes on car parking below.
From M25 South:
Exit at J2 for A2 towards London. Head for Blackwall Tunnel onto A102. Exit A102 via slip road for A206 and follow directions provided above.
Blue Badge holders can apply for a Disabled Persons permit to park on-campus otherwise there is no student parking. There are a limited number of staff permits but there is a long waiting list for these. There is a public car park just outside the campus in Park Row Greenwich Council provides information on parking here and elsewhere in Greenwich.
Motorbikes and Scooters
If you have a motorbike or scooter you can park this in the designated parking area near to the East Gate entrance. A registration form is required available from the East Gate Security Lodge.
