A truly wild time is in store at the University of Greenwich’s Medway Campus on Saturday, October 22. The university’s School of Science is hosting the Kent Wildlife Conference, which will be discussing issues ranging from the survival of plants and insects to the types of fish found in the county’s rivers and the plight of water voles.
The event, organised by Kent Field Club, takes place in the Pilkington Building between 10am and 4pm, and this year is titled The Natural History of North West Kent.
Representatives from various organisations including the RSPB, the Environment Agency, Kent Wildlife Trust and the Botanical Society of the British Isles will be giving talks throughout the day.
Other topics for discussion include marine and brackish water invertebrates of the Thames and Medway estuaries, the types of wildlife recorded by the public, and the status of the flora and fauna of north-west Kent. Conservation plans for the area are also on the agenda.
