Message from the Dean

Science is a voyage of discovery. You learn about the physical and biological world from experiments you design and carry out yourself. You will have many opportunities to undertake some fascinating and inspirational work at our Medway Campus.

Teaching and learning

We employ the very latest learning and assessment techniques, provide pastoral care to ensure students achieve their goals and deliver academic and professional programmes supported by research and scholarship. Most of our programmes are accredited or recognised by relevant professional bodies so you can have total confidence in the quality of our teaching programmes.

The School of Science works with industry to solve real-world problems and develop new products and processes. Our partners include organisations such as BP, GSK, Power Plate and the NHS.

Employability

We take our graduates’ careers very seriously. During the course of your degree, we will help prepare you for the world of work. There will be workshops on all aspects of employability. There will be opportunities to meet prospective employers to understand what companies are looking for, placement opportunities and how to prepare yourself for job applications. We also offer four-month placements in the School to our graduating students as well as a tailored final year course on employability.

The Confederation of British Industry states that starting salaries for graduates in STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) subjects are £1,000–1,500 higher than graduates from non-STEM subjects. The earning potential for science graduates over the longer term is also excellent.

We look forward to welcoming you to the University of Greenwich.

Professor Martin J. Snowden
Dean of the School of Science
