Communication & Creative Arts

The department provides a vibrant, creative and supportive environment in which to study drama, writing, media and literature at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

A diverse range of programmes is offered, enabling students to realise and maximise their creative and academic potential and to seize and shape their career opportunities. Many of our graduates have gone on to establish successful careers in journalism, broadcasting, playwriting and teaching.

Our location, close to London's theatres, art galleries and cultural events, is ideal for students seeking to broaden their understanding of creative industries.

Undergraduate and postgraduate programmes are offered. Courses incorporate all aspects of the creative arts and industries as well as a range of possible combinations with other subjects within the School of Humanities & Social Sciences.

The department is a vibrant research community, combining the experience and leadership of established scholars with the growing achievements of a group of early career researchers. All members of the department are engaged in research, publication and artistic practice, as well as enterprise, consulting and professional activities. Their work is highly diverse, and ranges from conventional print publications to a variety of audiovisual media. For further information visit our Literature and Drama Research Group webpages.

Much of this work has international recognition, and makes an important cultural contribution to the university, and to London; conference papers have been delivered in Britain, the USA and South Africa, work has been published in Britain, the USA, Greece, and Russia.

The research is structured around two clusters focusing on media theory and arts and English, drama and creative writing.
