From September 2012: 12 and 14 week courses

Greenwich Maritime Institute offers a series of courses that can contribute towards CPD or be taken as taster courses before committing to a full postgraduate programme. The credits can be accumulated and will be taken into consideration should a student wish to continue on to a full degree programme at a later date.

The courses are provided on a weekly basis alongside the degree programmes, allowing you to mix with students who are studying for MA or MBA degrees. This opportunity gives you the chance to study the subjects at a more advanced level.

The 12-week courses offered from September 2012 are:

  • Methods, Problems & Issues in Maritime Policy
  • The Maritime Business Environment
  • British Maritime History: The Merchant Navy
  • British Maritime History: The Royal Navy

The 14-week courses offered from January 2013 are:

  • Economics of International Shipping
  • 20th Century International Maritime History
  • 20th Century International Naval History
  • Environmental History and the Sea: The British Isles, 1800-2011 (20 credits) (pending validation)

Entry requirements for 12 and 14-week courses

Generally, applicants should either have a good honours degree and/or relevant personal or professional experience. However the requirements are more flexible for applicants wishing to attend short courses and who don’t complete the assessment.
