MA, PhD (forthcoming)

As well as for the Greenwich Maritime Institute (GMI), Chris Ware currently lectures at the University of Kent and Canterbury Christ Church University. He is an author and freelance researcher and has appeared several times on the BBC’s Who Do You Think You Are? as an expert maritime historian. He was formerly a curator at the National Maritime Museum (1977–99).

Chris Ware is Programme Leader for the MA Maritime History and the MA by Research: Maritime Studies.

Research/scholarly interests

  • A seven-month GMI research project The Unknown War with Spain 1727–1729 which will result in some future journal articles
  • Submarine warfare in the First World War, which will result in a further book to be published by Pen & Sword.
