Careers and employability

Our placement schemes give students the skills and experience they need to improve their employability.

We have excellent partnerships with local schools and Further Education colleges in Kent, Surrey and south east London and are continually developing new links.

University link tutors and school mentors provide additional support to students throughout their placements and ensure that the training provided is of the highest standard.

We also offer subject enhancement courses (SKE) to prospective students who need to build up their subject knowledge skills before they gain Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). SKE courses are intensive programmes accredited by the Teaching Agency for Schools. They equip students with a greater depth of subject understanding which they will need in order to teach in a specialist subject area. SKEs are only available for students who have a PGCE place at a recognised UK-based university. We currently offer SKEs in design technology, maths, chemistry and physics.

Our graduates have gone on to forge successful and rewarding careers with local government education authorities, museums, schools, colleges and training organisations.
