Forty years ago, jobs for life were the norm. Then they, and many of the organisations providing the jobs disappeared. Today, even the "job" is under threat, with new patterns of work and global economic volatility reshaping the traditional employer-employee contract.
While the new reality sounds unsettling, it could also be hugely liberating for the next generation entering the workforce. Whether you call it entrepreneurialism or individual capitalism, we all need to understand it. Matthew Rock, Communications Director & Co-founder of Caspian Media tells us why "Everyone needs to be an Entrepreneur" in today’s economy.

Matthew Rock is a business journalist and co-founder of Caspian Media, an £8m-turnover business-to-business publishing, digital and events company. Matthew was on the launch editorial team of Real Business, the UK's most established and leading title for entrepreneurs and smaller businesses. Over a 21-year career, Matthew has probably met and interviewed more entrepreneurs than any other UK journalist. He hosts and organises high-profile conferences and events, such as the annual First Women Awards, Growing Business Awards, Entrepreneurs' Summit and Asian Women of Achievement awards, and chairs the "Inspiring Entrepreneurs" event series at the British Library.

This conference, hosted by the University of Greenwich, is being held at the Greenwich Campus, Old Royal Naval College.
The campus is based on a World Heritage Site on the banks of the river Thames. The university’s largest campus is centered on three baroque buildings designed by Sir Christopher Wren at the end of the 17th century.

The Borough of Greenwich is steeped in history. East meets West on the Meridian Line, which divides the hemispheres and marks longitude zero. The line runs through the courtyard of the 17th century Royal Observatory and indicates the spot from which Greenwich Mean Time is calculated.
