Woman entrepreneur inspires next generation

A1637---Women-in-businessClaire Derrick, business entrepreneur and graduate of the Business School at the University of Greenwich is speaking at a forum for business women.

Open to the public, the one-day event, Women in Business, offers advice in running a new or established business or social enterprise.

The forum, which coincides with International Women’s Day, will give clear advice on financial and technical support available to new businesses, as well as marketing strategies and networking opportunities with women business owners. Attendees will also have access to a range of exhibitors, business support providers and local management consultants.

The forum, organised by the university in association with training consultants CNT Associates, will have panel members including Claire, Catherine Taylor, Executive Director at CNT Associates, Barbara Harding from Ogilvie Associates and Samantha Burton, founder of So Organic Ltd.

Matt Housden, Principal Lecturer in Marketing at the university, says: “The difficulties for anyone starting a business are significant. Often, when juggling family and home life with the demands of starting or running a business, these difficulties are multiplied.”

Also a panel member at the forum, he adds: “Women in Business offers practical advice and support to women starting or running their own business. This advice comes from women who have been through this process.”

It is being held in Queen Anne Building at the Greenwich Campus on Friday 6 March from 9.30am to 2pm. Tickets start from £19.95 and include lunch/refreshments. For more information and a booking form visit www.gre.ac.uk/business_events
