Global business from an economic perspective is the focus of our department’s teaching and research.
Our undergraduate degree programmes provide a solid grounding in economics, business economics, international business and business law. Our postgraduate degrees draw students from around the world. We also have strong PhD and DBA programmes.
We work with industry bodies such as the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) to ensure our curriculum meets the needs of modern international business; students gain associate membership of CMI on graduating.
Our economics programmes have repeatedly received exceptional results in the National Student Survey, and two thirds of our research was rated world class or world leading in the last Research Assessment Exercise. Our doctoral programmes are endorsed by EDAMBA, the European Doctoral Programmes Association in Management and Business Administration.
Our research and teaching are closely interrelated. The department hosts the Public Services International Research Unit, an internationally renowned and independently financed research unit based at Greenwich. We support the Centre for Business Network Analysis, the largest concentration of business network analysts in the UK, with specialist expertise in the social network analysis of organisations. Several members of the staff work with the Work and Employment Research Unit, the Economic Development Resource Centre, and the Centre for Governance, Risk & Accountability at the Business School.
