University of Greenwich graduate to appear on Channel 4 show

A1824-Ian-Kitson-PRLandscape architect Ian Kitson is to appear on a new prime time series on Channel 4, on the evening of Thursday, May 20.

Ian is a graduate of the University of Greenwich and runs his own successful landscape architecture and garden design business.

He is to appear in one of a series of six hour-long programmes entitled Landscape Man, which follow horticulturists creating ambitious and dramatic landscape designs.

Ian is one of the commissioned garden designers, and the aim of his mission is to help a couple turn their overgrown garden into an area of outstanding natural beauty in the heart of the countryside.

Viewers will see couple Anne and Geoff Shaw, out in all weathers during the four seasons, creating a beautiful new landscape under Ian’s expert tutelage.

Ian Kitson says: “To create a garden that can stand proud in the shadow of a dominant piece of historic architecture and an equally dominant and emotive piece of English countryside, is a rare opportunity. It is a credit to the owners that through the entire process of design, planning consents and construction they believed something special could be delivered. They can now genuinely delight in something better than they ever hoped for.”

Ian studied in the landscape and garden design department at the University of Greenwich, which is recognised as one of Europe’s leading centres for undergraduate and postgraduate courses in landscape architecture.

Other former graduates from the university who have received awards in landscape architecture include: Sarah Eberle, an eight-time Royal Horticultural Society medal winner and Lady Arabella Lennox-Boyd, winner of six gold medals at the Royal Horticultural Society Chelsea Flower Show.
