Working with young children: open evening

People looking to work in a profession involving young children are invited to an open evening at the University of Greenwich, where they can find out how to enrol on courses which lead to Early Years Profession Status (EYPS).

Lecturers, current students and staff from local authorities will be on hand to advise on the options available.

The evening is aimed at those who would like to work in childcare with children aged five and under and who hold an Early Years foundation or undergraduate degree in any subject. Students who already have an Early Years foundation degree or equivalent can ‘top up’ their qualification while they train.

The programme on the day includes presentations on how to make an application, interview tips and advice on the financial support available while studying. There will also be an opportunity to tour the university campus and facilities.

The event takes place on Wednesday, 24 March from 3pm to 5pm at University of Greenwich’s Avery Hill Campus, Mansion Site, Bexley Road, Eltham, London SE9 2PQ. Admission is free.

Donna Briant, Early Years Marketing & Recruitment Officer at the university, says: “The session is a great opportunity for people interested in working with children to find out how they can study for a qualification that will help enhance their future career prospects.”

Those who cannot attend the open evening, but would like to find out more about EYPS can visit the university’s website at: www.gre.ac.uk/eyps or call the enquiry unit on 0800 005 006.

For further information, call Donna Briant on 020 8331 7662 or e-mail: eyps@gre.ac.uk

Notes to editors

The University of Greenwich is one of only 35 accredited universities in the UK to provide the EYPS course.

The current UK government’s aim is to have an Early Years Professional at every children’s centre by 2010 and day care centres by 2015.
