University of Greenwich has most satisfied students in London, says Sunday Times

A1737-most-satisfied-students-in-londonGreenwich has scooped top place in the London league table for student satisfaction, ahead of some of the most prestigious institutions in the capital.

The Sunday Times, which published its annual University Guide yesterday, says: “The most satisfied students in London are to be found at the University of Greenwich. With an overall percentage score of 77.2% in the national student satisfaction survey, it ranks 35th nationally.” And it says students at the Greenwich campus “have some of the most exquisite university grounds in the country”.

The National Student Survey asks all third year students to rate their institutions on 22 areas from teaching and equipment to how far they have been helped to develop personally. The Sunday Times took an average of the results for all questions to compile its own league table. When asked whether they were satisfied overall, an even higher number of students at Greenwich – 83% - said yes.

Students rated the quality of teaching highly, with nearly 90% saying staff were good at explaining things, 85% finding staff enthusiastic and 83% finding courses intellectually stimulating. Appreciation of course organisation and management were above average and students also gave the thumbs up for the way their own presentation skills, communication skills and general confidence in problem-solving had been boosted.

English graduate Tasneem Patel says: “The teachers have always been really helpful and their availability has been fantastic. If you have a query they are just a phonecall away. Another area which is strong is professional development. There are lots of opportunities to develop skills and get work experience – things employers look for on a CV.”

Tessa Blackstone, Vice-Chancellor of the university, says: "I am delighted that the University of Greenwich has the most satisfied students in London. We pride ourselves on the hard work put in by our staff to support our students and to make sure they have the best possible learning experience. We are determined to go on improving by responding rapidly to our students' views about what they need."
