Open day for manufacturing businesses

A1605---ManufactureManufacturing businesses are invited to an open day at the new Renishaw Centre for Manufacturing Productivity, at the University of Greenwich at Medway, on Wednesday, November 26.

The centre will demonstrate the latest technology and manufacturing systems aimed at making businesses more competitive.

Centre manager Ian Cakebread says: “This is an opportunity to see how the centre can benefit your business with a range of practical training courses, and access to the latest tools and systems.”

The courses have been developed by Renishaw, one of the country’s largest engineering firms, which has managed to keep the majority of its manufacturing base in the UK due to the efficiency of its processes.

Visitors can drop in any time between 9am and 4.30pm. As well as demonstrations of the Centre’s advanced machining facilities, and training advice from staff, there will be a seminar programme running throughout the day:

09.30, 11.30, 13.30, 15.30 – Overview of the Manufacturing Process Improvement training initiative (with demonstrations of Renishaw technology)

10.30, 12.30, 14.30 – Productivity presentations by Haas, SolidCAM and WNT

Register at www.renishaw.info/Greenwich or by calling Ian Cakebread on 01634 883858

Address: Renishaw Centre for Manufacturing Productivity, Hawke Building, University of Greenwich at Medway, Chatham Maritime, Kent ME4 4TB

Minister for the South East, Jonathan Shaw MP, formally opened the centre on October 22. He said: “Partnerships between universities and business are critical to give the manufacturing sector the skills and knowledge to compete in a challenging market. The Renishaw Centre is an excellent example of collaboration to meet this challenge.”
