The University of Greenwich is opening its brand new gym to the public at special community rates.
Residents can have access to the state-of-the-art facilities for just £200 a year – the equivalent of £16.67p a month – a lot less than private clubs.
The gym shares a space with a newly refurbished café where members can get Costa coffee or enjoy a healthy snack.
Based at the Avery Hill campus just down the road from Eltham, the gym boasts cardiovascular and resistance machines, free weights and full disabled access. Staff will show new members around and demonstrate each piece of equipment.
The gym is open every day of the year except the Christmas period and bank holidays, from 7am to 10pm Mondays to Fridays and 9am to 6pm at weekends.
University Sports Manager Iain Metters says: “We have everything you need for a complete body workout. Qualified fitness staff are on hand at certain times of day to help with your exercise plan.
“Personally I am very pleased that we can help students, staff and members of the public improve their lifestyles through physical exercise.” Corporate packages for local businesses are also available.
