The Universities at Medway Students’ Association (UMSA) is celebrating after receiving recognition for its staff communication, training and development programmes.
Three years after UMSA was founded by the students’ unions of the universities of Greenwich, Kent and Canterbury Christ Church, the Association has been accredited with Investors in People (IIP) status.
IIP accreditation is the third major quality award that UMSA has gained in the past six months. In April, it won the National Union of Students (NUS) Best Bar None award for outstanding operational and safety standards in its bars.
The Association also achieved accreditation from the NUS Services Sound Impact scheme, which rewards good environmental practice.
Wil Corkrey, of Canterbury Christ Church University’s Students’ Union, said that the IIP accreditation was a key target for UMSA. ‘We are proud to have been recognised with Investors in People status. Our vision is to be a model of best practice for collaboration in higher education,’ he said.
UMSA is based at the Universities at Medway campus in Chatham Maritime and provides activities and services for all students at Greenwich, Kent and Canterbury Christ Church universities, plus those at Mid-Kent College.
