A new university stall in Greenwich’s busy historic market place is offering information to potential students as the new academic year approaches.
Sited alongside artisan jewellers, antiques traders and a chef serving hog roast, University of Greenwich staff are answering a stream of enquiries about the courses on offer.
As well as offering information about entrance requirements for a wide range of subjects, staff are handing out prospectuses and chatting to would-be applicants about their options.
Bev Woodhams, Head of Central Recruitment explains: "The market is the hub of the World Heritage Site here and it attracts thousands of tourists, as well as local people.
“We've been delighted by the number of serious enquiries we're getting, from potential postgraduate and overseas applicants, as well as the traditional home undergraduates whom we expect to see during Clearing. The great thing is that we're just a stone's throw from the campus so they can have a good look around as well."
The stall runs from Wednesdays to Sundays until the end of September.
On the campus itself, daily tours are on offer every hour until the end of next week (Friday, August 29). Led by student ambassadors, the tours allow visitors to experience an insider’s view of life in and out of lectures. Sights include academic facilities such as lecture theatres and the library, computer laboratories, halls of residence and the Students’ Union, as well as the magnificent Painted Hall and Chapel on the World Heritage Site.
From Monday, September 1, potential students and their parents, can make an appointment for an individual tour by calling freephone 0800 005 006.
