Applications Boost for University of Greenwich at Medway

Medway studentsMedway is an increasingly popular student destination according to the University of Greenwich at Medway where applications for places have reached record levels. Nearly 2,400 prospective home undergraduates applied to study full time at the university’s attractive campus at Chatham Maritime – up nearly 5% overall. In recent years, the University of Greenwich has more than doubled its student numbers at Medway and plans to expand even further in the future.

The School of Health & Social Care is the biggest winner, with applications up 700% for courses in Nursing and Speech & Language Therapy, both offered in partnership with Canterbury Christ Church University. The most popular subjects are in the School of Science, which received 1400 applications, and the School of Engineering, which attracted 1270 hopefuls. Other subjects where there is a high level of demand include Business, Education & Training and Pharmacy (a joint course with the University of Kent).

Stuart Ashenden, Director of Academic Planning for the University of Greenwich at Medway says: “I am delighted that the University of Greenwich at Medway has so many applications this year. We offer a combination of a quality education, a great campus and lower tuition fees, which seems to be popular with school leavers and mature students.

“Fortunately, from this September, we will have more places than ever before, the result of ten years’ sustained investment in this campus.

“We are working closely with employers to make sure that our graduates learn the skills that they will need to go on to get good jobs and help this region develop.”
