Professor James Gao, Medway Chair of Manufacturing Engineering at the University of Greenwich at Medway, is to share his expertise in product development and global manufacturing in his inaugural lecture on Thursday October 18.
He has worked with many high-profile industrial companies to improve efficiency through knowledge management.
Professor Gao explains: “Very often, different teams in a company will be working on the same project but they will store information separately. They may even give different names to the same contents of information. It makes collaboration very difficult. We can offer businesses knowledge development tools to improve their processes and allow them to share knowledge so they can reduce lead times and improve quality.”
The inaugural lecture Knowledge Management For New Product Development In The Global Manufacturing Era will introduce his research experience and future plans.
Professor Gao is developing new master’s programmes in innovative product development and global manufacturing. For information on these or any other courses at the University of Greenwich at Medway, please call 0800 005 006.
His lecture will be held on Thursday 18th October 2007 at 5:30pm in Room 008 of the Pilkington Building. For tickets please contact Nicola Cox on 01634 883 557 or email n.j.cox@gre.ac.uk. For more information about Professor Gao and his work click here to visit his website.
