Play Time’s Over for Summer 2007

A-1448-Playgroup-MedwayThe annual summer playscheme at the University of Greenwich at Medway has successfully finished its 10th year in operation.

The playscheme was developed to help students at the university or parents in the local community who have children less than 11 years of age with child care in the summer break and who need to work during the summer holidays.

The Ofsted registered playscheme is based at the university's Medway Campus, and provides the children with a wide variety of summer activities including painting, model making, drawing, puzzles, jigsaws, football, basketball, skittles, tennis, rounders and board games.

Lynne Spencer, Campus Head of Student Affairs at Medway, said: “It’s been another great summer for the children in our playscheme and for their parents, who have been able to study or work in the knowledge that their children are being well looked after and having fun. I enjoy popping in to see the children because the atmosphere is calm and industrious. This year the children made wonderful detailed models which demonstrated that although computers may be sought after toys at Christmas, cardboard boxes still fire the imagination of children whatever their ages”

“Plans are already underway to repeat the playscheme during next year’s summer holidays.”
