Eight schools from Medway have taken part in a special science challenge designed to test their skills and knowledge through practical experiments.
Hosted by the University of Greenwich at Medway, the event was also supported by BAE Systems and Medway Council. Year 10 pupils took part in four workshop challenges, which included a fizzy drink analysis and a forensic murder investigation.
After all the challenges were completed, the scores were counted up and the team from Fort Pitt Grammar School for Girls were handed the inaugural BAE Medway and Greenwich Cup.
The University of Greenwich at Medway Education Liaison Coordinator Will Calver said: “This was a great way for the youngsters to experience some of the courses we offer here at the university in a fun environment.
“We were delighted to have the support of BAE and Medway Council and hopefully this event will inspire some of the participants to want to study these subjects when it comes to their higher or further education options.”
The University of Greenwich at Medway has also just staged a successful Engineering Summer School, in collaboration with the Smallpiece Trust..
The residential programme saw 30 Year 11 students take part in workshops which included designing and manufacturing a car.
