The University of Greenwich at Medway has made sure prospective students have all their information they need ahead of A-level results day on August 16, by distributing more than 300,000 brochures to homes and schools.
‘Medway Campus: A Guide to Your Local University’ is a free 16-page full-colour publication which lists information on courses, accommodation and support available to new students, as well as taster sessions. Households in Medway, Maidstone, Gravesham and Swale as well as schools across Kent have been sent the brochure.
A record 222 courses are being offered by the university across its three campuses at Medway, Avery Hill and Greenwich and nearly 6,000 students are expected to take up places from September both from the UK and abroad.
New courses available for the first time at Medway include degrees in Forensic Science with Criminology, Electric & Electronic Engineering, Sports Science with Coaching and Health Sciences for Complementary Therapies.
The guide, which contains case studies of successful students, also offers information on the university’s tuition fees charges which are some of the lowest in the country. Fees will increase only by inflation for the forthcoming academic year, with students paying £2,560 for honours degrees, well below the £3,070 annual maximum permitted by the government.
Dr Stuart Ashenden, Director of Academic Planning at the University of Greenwich at Medway, says: “It’s vitally important we let people know about the ever-increasing opportunities on offer.
“The university is growing rapidly in terms of student numbers and programmes available and we are playing our part to make sure the local area is getting the skills its workforce needs for the future. With a range of magnificent facilities available at Medway and low tuition fees, studying at the University of Greenwich at Medway is a great start to any future career.”
A free Clearing telephone hotline is now open on 0800 005 006. Advisers will be on hand from 8.30am on Thursday, August 16, to help A-level students, who have received their results, as well as others who are interested in starting a course this September, to find the best course available.
Informal campus tours, with no booking required, will run from Monday, August 20 to Thursday, August 23 to allow prospective students a chance to see the University’s facilities. The tours start every hour between 10am and 3pm and meeting points are at the Pembroke Building reception for the Medway campus; Queen Mary Building enquiry desk for the Greenwich campus and the Mansion Building reception for the Avery Hill campus.
It will also be possible to visit all three campuses on special open days on Saturday, August 18 and Friday, August 24. Tours and a chance to talk to course tutors will be available from 10am to 3pm on both days and students can apply for courses at the events if they bring their results with them.
