The University of Greenwich presents ten days of contemporary and traditional theatre starting Thursday 8 March at its new studio at the Old Baths in Woolwich.
From intense psychological drama to uplifting musical shows, from Ellen Byron to William Shakespeare… this is a fantastic festival showcasing the best of local talent and international drama.

Thursday 8 March: ‘CRAZY FOR YOU’
Evening performance only: Reynolds Theatre presents an exciting medley of musical theatre.
Friday 9 March: ‘LOW LEVEL PANIC’
Matinee and evening performances: University of Greenwich final year drama students present a play focusing on the lives of two women, examining the objectification of women by men and by women themselves. Winner of the Samuel Beckett Theatre Award, 1989, written by British playwright Clare McIntyre. Includes explicit scenes and dialogue
Saturday 10 March: ‘IRON’
Matinee and evening performances: University of Greenwich presents an intense psychological drama by Rona Munro. Josie is visiting her mother Fay for the first time in 15 years. She’s never walked into prison before. Fay is serving life for murder.
Sunday 11 March: ‘GRACELAND’
Matinee and evening performances: University of Greenwich presents this light-hearted, touching story of dreams unfulfilled in poor white America. A play by Ellen Byron.
Monday 12 March: ‘BEXLEY VOICES’ and ‘FASCINATING RHYMTHS’
Matinee performance at 2pm, evening performance at 7pm
Matinee: ‘Bexley Voices’: Bird College of Performing Arts presentsan innovative and stimulating piece of verbatim theatre tackling issues of race, identity,immigration and culture. Through communication with the Bexley community, dramatic monologues have been created which visually and powerfully illustrate the lives of the people living there.
Evening: ‘Fascinating Rhythms’:Bird College of Performing Arts presents a unique showcase of talented performers in amusic and dance theatre production. A vibrant theatrical experience for the whole family.
Tuesday 13 March ‘MEASURE FOR MEASURE’
Matinee and evening performances: third-year students at ALRA (Academy of Live and Recorded Arts) present a modern-dress production of Shakespeare’s dark, bitter comedy. Misunderstandings and hidden identities are unravelled.
Wednesday 14 & Thursday 15 March: ‘PAYBACK’ and ‘SWITCH’
Evening performances only: Greenwich and Lewisham Young People’s Theatre (GLYPT) presents a double-bill. ‘Payback’ by Darren Rapier is a fast-moving drama set in south-east London and deals with the eternal struggle of trying to do the right thing in a world which seems set against you. ‘Switch’ by Tunde Euba asks: do you believe in an eye for an eye, blood for blood? What happens when the meek seek revenge and the predator becomes the prey? And, how different are people from each other – really?
Thursday 15 March: ‘NOT STALKING DAVID TENNANT’
Evening performance only (Room Two): Four women. Four stories. One goal. A one-woman show exploring the modern female obsession with “having it all” and how this sometimes taints the beauty of the things we do possess.
Friday 16 March: ‘CROOKED’
Matinee and evening performances: University of Greenwich presents this satirically naughty yet warm play by Catherine Trieschmann. “Gloriously funny, ‘Crooked’ pokes fun at America’s Bible Belt but also takes on serious issues of religion, mental health and Sapphic sexual awakening, by exploring the unusual friendship between a new girl in town, Laney, and a born-again Christian, Mirabel.” Music OMH.com
Saturday 17 March: ‘THE NIGHT HERON’
Matinee and evening performances: University of Greenwich presents a play by Jez Butterworth, a gritty and brooding portrayal of the intimacies and secrets that can influence relationships. Like the night heron, the characters have been blown off course in this hilarious, quirky yet disturbing black comedy.
