Shaping the future of the Thames Gateway will be the hot topic when Sir Terry Farrell delivers the first of the University of Greenwich at Medway’s Pembroke Lectures for 2007.
On Wednesday, February 28, Sir Terry, Principal of Farrells, will speak about ‘placemaking’ and its role in the Thames Gateway Regeneration Project, which is the largest of its kind in Europe. The talk will explore the relationship between London and the Thames Estuary, including Medway, and how it has come to prominence through the regeneration plans and what lies in store for the future.
Professor Alan Reed from the University of Greenwich at Medway, who helps organise the Pembroke Lecture series, said: “Sir Terry, who is also the Medway Design Champion appointed by Medway Council, believes placemaking is the fundamental art that lays the foundation for architecture. But who plans and who decides what kind of place the Thames Gateway will be and what is the role of ‘visioning’ in the process? Come along to find out what this all means for the Thames Gateway and Medway.”
Tickets are now available and are issued on a first-come, first-served basis. Lectures are held in the Wardroom in the Pembroke Building at the University of Greenwich at Medway based at Chatham Maritime. Guests should arrive between 6.30pm and 7pm.
