Politics, Parliament and Pembroke

Alan ReedLabour MP for Gillingham and Rainham Paul Clark will be the guest speaker at the Pembroke Lecture to be held at the University of Greenwich at Medway on Wednesday, October 4.

His talk, Milk Monitor to Member of Parliament, will be about his life from his time at Featherby Junior School through to his political career and what the future holds for Medway and North Kent.

Another in the series of lectures takes place on November 15, when Professor Alan Reed, The University of Greenwich at Medway’s Regional Director, will give a talk titled Pembroke - Past, Present and Future.

Professor Reed, who has helped organise the lectures series, says: “Following the success of the 2005 series of Pembroke Lectures, which focused on the bicentenary of the Battle of Trafalgar, this year’s series returns to its usual format of lectures covering a wide range of topics of general interest.

“All are welcome to attend these free events and it would be great to see as many local people as possible.”

Tickets are available from three weeks before each lecture date and are issued on a first-come, first-served basis. Lectures are held in the Wardroom in the Pembroke Building at the University of Greenwich at Medway based at Chatham Maritime. Guests should arrive between 6.30pm and 7pm.
