Professor David Maguire

Professor David Maguire became Vice-Chancellor of the University of Greenwich in October 2011. The Vice-Chancellor is the Chief Executive of the university and has overall responsibility for the management of the institution and its direction. He is accountable to the University Court.

Previous Experience

David was previously Pro Vice-Chancellor at Birmingham City University. In this role he was responsible for research and enterprise, and led major strategic reviews of research, employer engagement and ICT.  Prior to this he was Chief Scientist at Esri (Environmental Systems Research Institute, Inc), in California.

Education and Research

David Maguire holds a doctorate from the University of Bristol and a BSc from the University of Exeter.  He is an acknowledged expert in computer mapping and geographic information systems. His publications include seven books and more than 100 scientific and technical papers.

Personal

David is married with a grown up daughter. He enjoys playing squash and guitar music.
