Dr Mafakheri joined the University of Greenwich Business School as a lecturer in March 2011. She received a PhD in Management Science from HEC Montreal, the Business School of the University of Montreal in Canada. Before coming to UK, Dr Mafakheri was a visiting researcher at Yale University, USA.

Dr Fereshteh Mafakheri has presented papers in scientific conferences organised by INFORMS, Decision Sciences Institute, Operational Research Society and the Journal of Computational Management Science. She has served as a reviewer for several scientific journals and has worked as a session chair and stream organiser at various international conferences.
Dr Mafakheri is leading two RAE (Research Council) funded research projects investigating the economic and environmental performance of various coordination mechanisms in reverse supply chains. She is also supervising a number of postgraduate students' dissertations.
