James has been at the University of Greenwich since 2005, when he joined the Department of Marketing Events and Tourism. He has held various programme leadership positions and been led the development of many courses and three degree programmes. His research focuses on the links between tourism, events and economic development and he has both published and carried out consultancy in this field.
Since 2011, James has led the work of the Economic Development Resource Centre (EDReC), a team in the business school that carries out research and consultancy in the field of local economic development.
James has regularly contributes to television, radio and newspaper journalism and has been an invited contributor on BBC News, BBC News 24, The Politics Show, BBC Radio 4, Channel 4 News and China’s CCTV news channel.
